Creation Flex FAQ's

Creation Flex is a way to help you spread the cost of purchases, Balance Transfers and Money Transfers made using your Credit Card over a time period that suits you, between 3 and 36 months. Some Credit Card providers may call this an Instalment Plan.

Creation Flex works within your existing card’s credit limit and doesn't affect any promotional rate(s) you may have.

We may charge a Fee for Flex’s of 6 months or more. Any fee that may be payable will depend on how long your Flex is and the total value of the transactions you include. We’ll show you the Fee in the Creation Card App when making the Flex and on your next statement.

We’ll tell you how much you’ll need to pay each month, the Fee you’ll need to pay over the instalment period you’ve set the Flex for (if applicable) and it’ll automatically adjust your full payment and Minimum Payment to reflect the Flex. The Fee for the Flex will be split by the number of months you choose and be included in each month’s payment.

How do I set up a Creation Flex?

To set up a Flex you’ll need the Creation Credit Card App. If you don't have it already, you can download it from the App Store or Google Play Store. You'll need your Credit Card to register your account. If you already have the Creation Credit Card App installed, please check that you have the latest version.

Once you've got the App set up, sign in and go to the ‘More’ section. If you're eligible, you'll have the option to create a Flex to spread your payments. Transactions which have appeared on your monthly statement will not be available to Flex.

Your Creation Credit Card App will step you through how to Flex.

What purchase transactions can I put into Creation Flex?

Only eligible purchase transactions which haven’t already appeared on a statement can be added to a Flex. If your transaction is not visible when you’re setting up your instalment plan, then it’s not eligible.

Can Balance Transfers and Money Transfers be Flexed?

Yes. Flex helps to spread the cost of a Money or Balance Transfers over a time period that suits you between 3 and 36 months. This ensures you have a ‘repaid by’ date when moving balances from other Credit Cards.
Please note, Flex cannot be used in conjunction with a promotional Balance Transfer or Money Transfer offer.

Can additional Cardholder purchases be flexed?

If you have an Additional Cardholder then any eligible purchases they make can be added to a Flex.

Can I still take out cash if I have a Flex?

Yes, if you have a Flex on your Credit Card you’ll still be able to take out cash. However, you can’t Flex a cash transaction, for example a cash withdrawal at a cash machine.

How many Flex can I have?

Creation Flex is unlimited, but remember a Flex forms part of your existing credit limit and you’ll need to continue to make at least your Minimum Payment each month.

Please make sure you’re able to afford your Minimum Payments when making a transaction or setting up a Flex. Please note, making late or missing repayments can have an impact on your credit file and affect your ability to obtain credit in the future.

What happens when my Flex comes to an end?

The Flex will be paid off and show in your Flex history in the Creation Credit Card App.

How does a Flex affect my current Credit Card balance?

Flex makes up part of your existing Credit Card balance as your Flex purchase transactions are made up of existing transactions already made on your Credit Card. Money or Balance Transfers that you Flex make up part of your existing balance in the same way.

Can I add more than one purchase to a Flex?

Yes, when you first set up a Flex you can add multiple transactions.

Each purchase must have been posted (not showing as pending) to your account since your last statement.

You can’t add any more purchases to an existing Flex.

Is there a Fee?

We’ll show you the Fee in your Credit Card App before you create the Flex and on your next statement.

If you don’t keep up with your Minimum Payments you may pay additional charges as per the Terms and Conditions on your Credit Card.

If you over pay or repay early you’ll pay less than your Fee for that Flex .

If you cancel a Flex, you won’t be charged a Flex Fee on your next statement. However, the outstanding Flex balance will move to the relevant transaction APR. To find out how to cancel a Flex, check out the section on Changing your Flex.

What happens to my Flex if I spend over my credit limit?

Your Flex will continue to operate as normal but you’ll need to make a payment to bring your account within its credit limit. For more information please see your Terms and Conditions.

Why don’t I have Flex on my Credit Card?

There are a number of reasons why you may not be eligible for a Flex, such as:

• You haven’t made a purchase on your Credit Card; or the transaction you're trying to add is not valid or is now on your statement

• Your standard interest rate is lower than the Flex equivalent interest rate, so Flex won’t be available as it would be a more expensive way to borrow

• Your Credit Card may be inactive, suspended or your account has limited functionality.

If you don’t see the option to set up a Flex instalment plan, keep checking back as you may be eligible in the future.

If I Flex a purchase will it impact my credit rating?

By spending within your credit limit and keeping up your repayments you’ll build up a credit history.

Please note that missing the monthly payment will result in Fees and could negatively impact your credit rating. Missing two payments will cancel any active Flex plans; if that happens, the outstanding amount of the Flex will move to your standard Credit Card balance and you will build up interest at the standard rate for that transaction type. If you have any concerns about your repayments, our payment support page may be able to help.

How do I manage my payments if I have a Flex?

There are many ways to take care of your Credit Card payments. The easiest way to manage your monthly payment is to set up a Direct Debit in your Credit Card App. Once this is set up it’ll make sure your requested monthly payments are collected by the due date.

Direct Debit:

If you have a Direct Debit set up on your Credit Card, then you don’t need to do anything. We’ll automatically amend your requested payment prior to the due date, to ensure it’s collected.

Manual payments:

If you choose to pay manually, please make sure you pay at least the Minimum Payment amount shown at the top of your statement. If you have a Flex plan, your Minimum Payment will include the monthly Flex repayment.

What happens to my monthly Minimum Payments if I take out a Flex?

When you start a Flex, you’re agreeing to pay a number of monthly payments. This amount will be added to the monthly Minimum Payment for your standard Credit Card. You’ll only ever have one Minimum Payment to make regardless of the number of Flex you have.

Can I make overpayments on my Flex?

If you only have a Flex set up and no other Credit Card balance and you make additional payments, then this will clear your Flex earlier than your selected term. This means the term will end as soon as the balance is £0. If you pay off your outstanding Flex balances before your next statement, you won’t be charged any more Flex Fees.

If you have additional transactions on your Credit Card that are not in a Flex, this could mean any overpayments you make aren’t allocated to your Flex.

If you have a Flex we will allocate payments as follows:

  1. To any Flex payments due for that month;
  2. To any other balances on your Account, such as purchases, cash or Balance Transfers. The balance with the highest Interest rate will be paid off first and then work down to lower rate balances.
  3. Any overpayment left after these will be put towards any Flex Balance remaining, first this will go to the Flex that ends soonest.

If the overpayment covers these, we’ll allocate any remaining payment to any transactions that aren’t showing on your statement yet.

Do I need to have a Direct Debit on my account to have a Flex?

No, you don’t need to have a Direct Debit set up, but we’d recommend that you do to make it easier to manage your account and remove any risk to missing a payment and affecting your credit score.

What happens to my Direct Debit if I have a Flex?

If you have a Direct Debit set up on your Credit Card then you don’t need to do anything. We’ll automatically amend your requested payment prior to the due date, to ensure it’s collected.

Minimum Payment Direct Debit

If you have a Direct Debit set up to pay the Minimum Payment, once you take out a Flex, this amount will increase to include your monthly Flex payment.

Fixed payment Direct Debit

If you have a fixed payment Direct Debit, we’ll increase the Direct Debit if it’s not enough to cover the Minimum Payment which includes your Flex.

Full payment Direct Debit

If you have a Direct Debit set up to pay your balance in full each month, we’ll collect your standard Credit Card balance plus that month’s Flex payment. This means you won’t repay the full statement balance amount you owe.

What happens if I miss my Flex payment?

If you fail to make your Minimum Payment, you’ll be asked to pay the outstanding balance when your next statement is due. This will show as part of your Minimum Payment.

If you miss or underpay two consecutive Flex payments, then all active Flex plans will be cancelled. If that happens, the outstanding amount of the Flex will move to your standard Credit Card balance and you will build up interest at the standard rate for that transaction type.

You won’t be able to move any transactions from a cancelled Flex into a new Flex.

If you are struggling with making your payments, please see our payment support page here.

How do I view my active Flex plans?

You can see the details of your Flex in your Credit Card App, in the ‘More’ section.

You’ll see a breakdown of all of your active Flex plans as well as your Flex history. Each Flex is broken down to help you manage your monthly payments. You’ll see your monthly Flex payment, the balance, and how long the term is.

How will Creation Flex be shown on my statement?

Each new Flex will be displayed on your statement, and every month you will see the Fee due on any outstanding Flex you have.

Can I cancel my Flex?

Yes, you can cancel any active Flex at any time using your Creation Credit Card App.

If you cancel a Flex after you have received a statement, you will still be required to make that monthly Flex payment, this will include the monthly Flex Fee (where applicable).

Any balance remaining will be moved to your standard Credit Card balance and you will build up interest at the standard rate for that transaction type. The Interest charged will be from the date of the transaction.

IMPORTANT: You won’t be able to move any transactions from a cancelled Flex into a new Flex.

What happens if my Flex has been cancelled in error?

If you cancel your Flex in error you can’t undo this. You won't be able to put a transaction back into a Flex once it has been moved back into your standard Credit Card balance. You’ll be charged the relevant transaction interest rate depending on whether the transaction is a purchase, cash or Balance Transfer.

We’ll only cancel your Flex if you’ve missed two consecutive Flex payments. Any Flex balance remaining will be moved to your standard credit card balance and you’ll build up interest at the standard rate for that transaction type.

If you have any concerns about your repayments, our payment support page may be able to help.

What happens if the transaction I have in a Flex is refunded?

If a transaction in a Creation Flex is refunded, the amount will be applied to your account and will go towards paying the balance/transactions with the highest rate of interest first. If you do not have any other balance on your account, the refund will be allocated to your Flex balance. This means your Flex will expire earlier than your selected term. If the refund has put your account into credit, you can request a refund from us.

I set up a Flex for the incorrect amount or term, what should I do?

Once you set up a Flex, you can cancel the Flex by using your Creation CreditCard App or contacting us, to avoid a Flex Fee, you’ll need to make sure you cancel before your statement. You can also change the term by Re-Flexing through your App.

If you cancel the Flex, the outstanding balance would move onto your standard Credit Card balance, where you’ll build up interest at the standard rate for that transaction type. You won’t be able to move any transactions from a cancelled Flex into a new Flex.

How do refunds or section 75 claims on Flex work?

You can make section 75 claims against applicable transactions that are part of a Flex. If your claim is successful, the money will be refunded back against your balance on your account. The refunded amount will be processed against balances on the highest interest rates in the first instance.

Introducing Re-Flex, the new way to extend Flex plans.

How does Creation Re-Flex work?

Just select a 3 month plan which isn’t fully paid off and extend the remaining balance over a longer term. This will reduce your Flex Plan repayment amount and extend the term.

Who’s eligible?

Customers whose accounts are in good working order. Check Flex inside your App to see if your transactions are eligible for a Flex, or whether a current Flex plan can be Re-Flexed.

When can I use Re-Flex?

You can only Re-Flex 3 month plans, which can be extended to a longer term (up to 36 months, depending on whether your initial 3 month plan has billed yet). If the final payment of the plan is being requested (your monthly bill is available and payment is due) then you can’t Re-Flex that plan. Click on a 3 month Flex plan to check if you’re able to Re-Flex it. If you’ve not made a payment towards an existing 3 month Flex plan, or you haven't paid off in full then Re-Flex should be available to use, providing your account is in good working order.

Making payments towards a Re-Flex?

Monthly repayments on all Flex plans, including those extended with Re-Flex will form part of your minimum monthly repayment. See making payments towards Flex section above for more details.

Where can I see Re-Flex plans?

See all plans in the Flex section of your Creation Credit Card Mobile App.

Will it cost me more to use Re-Flex?

When selecting Re-Flex, Creation will show any fees applicable, along with your reduced monthly repayment.
