Holidaymakers Getting Hotter on Security

March 27, 2013

UK holidaymakers value security over everything else when it comes to holidays according to over 2,000 people surveyed by Creation, the consumer finance specialist.

Creation has launched the results of its summer holiday survey, which asked its customers about their holiday plans for Summer 2013.

When asked what was most important to consumers when paying for things abroad, was the clear priority with over 40% of the vote.

Security was also uppermost in people's minds when they pay for their holidays too: almost 41% chose to book holidays by credit card, whilst over half the respondents thought the protection provided was the most important reason to purchase holidays by credit card.

As a gadget-crazy nation, people like to take at least 3 gadgets with them. The top three gadgets being mobile phones, cameras and music devices.

A surprising 30% didn't insure their gadgets with just under half either thinking it was unnecessary or were not aware they could protect them. Lisa Simcox, Managing Director, Consumer Finance, LaSer UK, which provides a range of co-branded credit cards, loyalty and retail finance solutions under its consumer brand Creation, said, "It's great to see that the public understands the benefits of sensible credit card use for holiday purchase: as it's of paramount importance that consumers protect themselves if holiday companies let them down.

It's not just payments that people should ensure are protected: most of our respondents said they now took gadgets on holiday, but not everyone was certain that they have the correct cover.  We recommend that all holidaymakers should consider their money and gadgets cover for the duration of their trip so they can enjoy their holiday and have peace of mind."
