We're Still Going On A Summer Holiday
Fears of recession haven’t dented the holiday making plans of the UK consumers, according to a survey by consumer finance specialist Creation.
In Creation’s survey of 3,000 customers, a holiday was the top indulgence that consumers were unwilling to forgo in their monthly budgetary planning; over 28% of respondents chose vacation over the likes of nights out with friends, a spot of retail therapy or a meal out. For those families with children this rose to an impressive 38% who felt a holiday was the last treat they could live without.
With the Travel Association predicting 2 million travellers left the UK to spend the Jubilee abroad and another travel survey estimating that 10 million will take an overseas break whilst the London Olympics is underway, it’s clear that holidays remain the one luxury our country can’t go without.
Lisa Simcox, Marketing Director at Creation said: “Our survey gave us an interesting insight into the nation’s consumer. Of course, it shows how important spending quality time away with family and friends is to our hardworking nation. It also hints that fears over the economy haven’t taken over our need to relax and enjoy our leisure time. It also shows how practical we are; we would prefer to manage our finance sensibly over a longer period, in order to enjoy our holiday experience.
“We’ve always built our offers around the things that matter to you most, which is why Creation provides a range of services whether you’re planning a short city break or a long-haul trip of a lifetime. And with worldwide acceptance and the additional protection of booking your holiday using a credit card, consumers can enjoy the reassurance and convenience they want”
